More Pictures?

My phone won't let me post pictures on this blog, so I actually have to sit at a computer (which I do very rarely).....So, I post all of our pictures at www.thebrownells.shutterfly.com

About Me

My photo
I have a husband and a puppy. I love one and am obsessed with the other. I'll let you figure out which is which. I love my job, my house, my students, my cheerleaders, and my life. I guess you could say things are going pretty well... I teach high school English and coach cheer. Husband is a video game designer. Guess which one the future Brownell babies will think is cooler...

SO close to being the BEST DAY EVER!

Today was a hot mess, roller coaster of emotions.

First - When I got to school this morning, I was angry.  There was a stupid amount of traffic in front of the school because they were doing road work.  Honestly people, why would you shut down the ONLY entrance to a school exactly 30 minutes before it started????
Second - Confusion?  I went to put my lunch in the fridge and the power was off...didn't think much of it.  Then I walked into my classroom and found that there was no power.  The dudes working on the power lines started to make much more sense.

Third - Hopeful - I hear a rumor that they will have to cancel school if they can't get the power back up before they have to start preparing lunch (legally we have to feed the gremlins too....).

Fourth - At a TOTAL loss.  What do you do with an ELD class in the dark.  AND today's plan was to have them do presentations using.....you guessed it - POWERPOINT!  So, I open my 2 tiny windows and tell them to use their cell phones as flashlights.

Fifth - Disappointed in society - Apparently teenagers are morons.  There is a whole laundry list of things I would like to present that do not work in a power outage.  I'm not joking.  At least 3 kids asked about each one.  "Can we use a computer?" REALLY?
"Can we put on music during SSR?" ARG!

"Mrs. Brownell, can I print my project?" HAHA

"Mrs. Brownell, can we turn on the lights?" OMG!

"Mrs. Brownell, your clock is wrong" WOW!

"Can I sharpen my pencil?" DUH

Sixth - Hopeful returns - they are still working at 9 (an hour after school starts), we have moved onto doing a worksheet in the dark.  It was too cold to go outside, so we were hunkered down and looked ridiculous.  They are still working and we thinking that we may get to go home.  I have mall stores mapped out!

Seventh - TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT! - The lights turn on and my class GROANS in horror.  I have to admit that I lead the booing.

SO CLOSE!
